BIOGRAPHY

Kat Stewart is arguably best known for her AACTA Award winning portrayal of Billie Proudman in the hugely popular television series Offspring. She can most recently be seen in the hit Network Ten series, Five Bedrooms produced by Hoodlum.

Her rise to prominence however, followed her breakout role as the infamous Roberta Williams in the acclaimed first series of Underbelly for which she received both the 2008 AFI Award for Best Lead Actress and the 2009 Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actress.

Other acclaimed lead television performances include Mr and Mrs Muder which she co-produced and starred in with Shaun Micallef, as well as Tangle for Foxtel’s Showcase Channel. Her work in television has led to Logie nominations for Most Outstanding Actress five times in the last ten years.

Kat’s other television credits include True Story with Hamish & Andy, Get Krackin’, No ActivityIt’s A Date (series 2), Jack Irish: Dead Point, CampMiss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (series 1), 30 Seconds, Newstopia (series 1,2, & 3), Supernova (series 1 & 2) for which she earned her first Logie nomination (Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent) and 2 Astra nominations, as well as recurring roles on City Homicide, Kick and Last Man Standing.

Kat’s feature film credits include, West of Sunshine directed by Jason Raftopolous, Sucker opposite Timothy Spall for director Ben Chessell, Lady Macduff in Macbeth directed Geoffrey Wright, EM 4 JAY directed by Alkinos Tsilimidos and most recently the Abe Forsythe film Little Monsters, alongside Lupita Nyong’o which debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Kat is also an award winning stage performer, spending 10 years as an ensemble member for Melbourne’s Red Stitch Theatre and appearing several times for the MTC. She recently returned to the stage this year in MTC’s sold out production of Heisenberg.
