Everything you could ask for in a voice actor and more. With over 30 years as a performer Ian has experience in spades. His body of work crosses all genres: Theatre highlights being the award winning Jasper Jones and Richard III for the Melbourne Theatre Company and the National Theatre of Great Britain’s War Horse.  Television experience includes ground breaking TV series like Blue MurderUnderbelly and the critically acclaimed Wentworth. Ian has also appeared in international blockbuster films such as The Matrix Trilogy (where one critic remarked, “Bliss sounds more like Hugo Weaving than Hugo Weaving”). Ian’s voice repertoire is boundless; radio, television, cinema, narrations, audio books and a vast array of animations under his belt for local and international productions. Ian continues to forge a career as one of Australia’s best voices. We think one the greatest compliments Ian has received from a client is (and as you can see in the testimonials below there are a few!), “I can’t believe all those voices are from the same guy!”. Have a listen to Ian’s demos, a read of the testimonials or even better – just get him in for a session!

  1. Throwing Ian (gently) into the booth is always going to be a rewarding experience. His range from authorative government voice through to that warm fatherly advice you need, combined with a multitude of characters that seem to defy the gentle nature of the man, you’re sure to get the right performance when Ian’s on the job. We’re always asking for something more as engineers, and Ian always delivers – making our working life easier. All of this, topped off by his Masterchef souffle skills, makes a tempting offer for your next project.

Dylan Stephens - Manager/Sound Designer (Risk Sound)

  2. Ian is an absolute dream to work with. I’ve worked with him now a few times across a range of projects and every time he just nails the brief. Would definitely use him again

    Amalia Makris - Clemenger BBDO

  3. I was first introduced to Ian’s work in War Horse in 2013. Ian’s detail and skill with regional British accents, along with his ability to physically inhabit roles firmly placed his characters in a specific era and location. Ian has worked regularly at MTC throughout his career. He has the range to work across a variety of genres including Shakespeare, contemporary and classical drama through to comedy and devised new work. During my time at MTC, Ian has been cast in several highly successful productions including North by Northwest, directed by Simon Phillips, in which he created a variety of American roles using a range of accents in this highly physical and fast paced production. In 2016, Ian was cast in Jasper Jones, directed by Sam Strong. Set in regional Western Australia Ian once again displayed his virtuosic performance skills playing a dad, Mr Bucktin and a teenage cricket playing bully in the role of Warwick.

Ian is a valued and respected performer within the industry and at MTC. His range of credits across different mediums and his on-going working relationships with directors and companies, speak volumes about his talent and professionalism.

Janine Snape - Casting Director (Melbourne Theatre Company)

  4. It’s always a pleasure working with Ian. I have had the opportunity to work with him across many varied projects over the years and it has always been a great experience. He consistently brings something special to the project and also takes direction well which allows us to really experiment in studio. He is very professional and quick to deliver whatever is required for us and/or our clients.

Matt Thompson - Sound Designer (CHE Proximity)

  5. We love working with Ian! As the voice of so many of our characters over three seasons of Kuu Kuu Harajuku, Ian really brings the characters to life. His enormous talent means he is able to take on a variety of roles. A consummate professional, it’s a delight having Ian on the team. We look forward to working with him on many shows to come…
