Taki Abe

Biography

Born Takehiro Abe, in Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. Taki grew up in the beachside town of Chigasaki and travelled to Australia as a 22 year old, to experience life outside Japan. His trip to Australia took an unexpected turn when he was cast as the lead role in Australian indie film Bondi Tsunami, spotted by the Director while he was competing in a surf competition. He has now been acting for over 20 years, with film credits in The Wolverine, Unbroken, and Hacksaw Ridge and will be appearing as Colonel Kota in the soon to be released Amazon series from Justin Kurzel The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

In addition to Film and TV credits, Taki was also featured in Guy Sebastian’s ARIA award winning music video for ‘Standing With You’ (directed by James Chappell), and a number of TV commercials across the years, for clients such as Peugeot, Asahi, American Express and QANTAS. Taki is also a talented voice artist.
