Jess Macaulay is an extremely versatile actor, who has depth as a dramatic actor, and sparkles in comedic roles. And she’s a spunk.
She trained at the Actors College of Theatre and Television, an institution teaching the closest thing to the American ‘method’ style of acting. After three years of this style of training, Jess is an intuitive, truthful actor, completely comfortable on both stage and set. Her credits at drama school include playing Abigail Williams in ‘The Crucible’, the Angel in ‘Angels in America’, and Pope Joan/Joyce in Caryl Churchill’s ‘Top Girls’.
Since graduating, Jess has appeared as a ditzy teenager in a Telstra TVC, played a Swedish masseuse in Season 2 of the ABC’s AFI award-winning comedy show ‘Double The Fist’, and has been featured in the Movie Extra documentary ‘To Be Or Not To Be’ for her work in multi-award winning short play ‘North’.
She was most recently seen on stage as a heartbroken young writer in Ferknerkle’s ‘Sniper’, and in RAW-EM’s production of ‘Wind In The Willows’, in which she played an 8 year old girl, a weasel and an Irish washerwoman. She was a massive hit with the kids – signed autographs and everything.
Keep an eye out for Jess in Tropfest 2010, playing a character that eerily resembles herself in ‘Seventeen’.
