A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Penne’s career in film and television has spanned 30 years. She made her film debut opposite Sam Neill and Jack Thompson in 1979’s The Journalist and has gone on to work with some of the country’s best – including PJ Hogan, Toni Collette and Bruce Beresford – in films such as Muriel’s Wedding, Paradise Road, and Black and White.

In 1990, Penne received an AFI nomination for her performance opposite Warren Mitchell and Ruth Cracknell in Kokoda Crescent. She has recently been seen in Bruce Beresford’s Mao’s Last Dancer and Julie Bertucelli’s The Tree. Penne’s role as Jessica Johnson in the pioneering Cash and Companyearned her both Australian Film & Television and Penguin (Television Society of Australia) Awards for Best Actress. She has appeared in countless other television dramas, most recently Chandon Picturesand 30 Seconds.

You may have heard Penne on film and never known it. Throughout her acting career, voice work (corporate, commercial and character) has been the backbone of her profession, leading her to play a wide variety of cartoon characters. “It’s the most exhilarating and skilful work.” Says Penne “You can try on personas you may never get anywhere else.”

It is with great sadness that we inform of Penne’s passing:

Laurence passion for performance began at age seven playing the piano in a stage production of The Wizard of Oz and he appeared in his first TV commercial at age nine. Since graduating from NIDA in 2009, Laurence has gone on to appear in the feature films The Cup and Before the Rain. His television credits include Neighbours, Devil’s Dust, and most recently in Home and Away.

Laurence loves to surf the northern beaches of Sydney and cook Italian bakes for his whole family, but there is no-where he would rather be than in the studio collaborating and exploring vocal choices for different clients.

Laurence has a very relaxed yet strong sound, which combined with his vivid imagination makes for a unique combination behind the mic. Laurence is inspired by the creative process in the studio; working with passionate others to assist in the journey from script to final product.

Asha Harvey started visiting Sydney’s recording studios well before reaching her 1st birthday with her dad, Simon, who’d take her along to his voice sessions.

Countless times as a little child she sat in the booth beside dad with headphones on to hear everything that was going on. Once a client asked her if she thought dad had just put down a good take, she said: “Hmmm, it was OK, but I think he could do a better one.” So….she’s quite at ease around studios!

Importantly, Asha readily takes direction in a voice session without becoming shy or intimidated. She has recorded with a number of Sydney’s well known engineers who have all remarked on how easy she is to work with. This confidence combined with her well articulated yet very cute voice and excellent reading ability means she might just be the right kid for your job.

…..and when you meet Asha, be sure to ask about her backyard chickens, Cupcakes and Chub Chub!

Archie can listen to direction and give a script personality. To give you an idea of what he’s like here’s a few of the (quirky) things he’s done in recent years:

- Archie played the lead part in the school play – as the bad guy Rumpelstiltskin. (He loves his drama class.)

- At a short course at NIDA Archie won the kids’ sword fighting competition. (Arch has watched ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ way too many times.

- Archie is one the top readers in his year. He loves fantasy stories and is even reading ‘Lord of the Rings’ on his own. (It’s his favourite book.)

- His favourite sport is climbing. He’ll have a go at climbing anything that looks challenging. The first thing he said when he saw the Harbor Bridge at 3 years old was “can I go up there” (meaning the top.)

- Archie has trained with one of Sydney’s leading voice artists who identified his ability to pick things up and instill personality.

- In his very first term at school Archie won the ‘I Love Learning Award’.

Best of all Arch is fun to have around. He’s loves a good chat with grown-ups.

Stephen James King (call him SJK) is an exciting and distinct new artist at RMK.

Although new to the world of voice-overs, his confident, smooth, and unique sound has already seen him entrusted as “the voice” of major national TV and radio campaigns for both Westpac and Optus.

He also utilises his world class training as an actor to bring huge versatility into the studio: only recently voicing a myriad of historical characters for Radio National, a tight arse twenty-something Aussie bloke for a fast food giant, and a sick, pathetic office worker for a major cold & flu company.

Stephen trained at The Juilliard School in New York City where he was the second Australian admitted in the Drama Division’s history. There he was cast in over twenty productions, ranging from a powerless King Lear to a power hungry pig in Animal Farm. Following graduation, he performed alongside many fine American actors including Tim Robbins, Harvey Keitel, Lauren Ambrose and Sam Waterston.

Back home, he has worked with the Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir, and at the Ensemble Theatre. His screen credits include Farscape, The Rage in Placid Lake, Home and Away, Life on Mars (USA), and will soon be seen wearing a very expensive hair piece in the upcoming Baz Luhrmann extravaganza, The Great Gatsby.

He wishes to thank legendary voice over artist and fellow RMK-er, Dame Anna Hruby, for showing him the ropes.
