Hi. - I’m a voice-over artist, actor, director, and writer : originally from Scotland, I was educated in Scotland, Zimbabwe, England and South Africa.
I’ve lived and worked as an actor in all those places, as well as in Australia where I’ve spent most of my life.
Being a bit of a mongrel I have a wide range of fully authentic accents. My natural speaking voice is generally considered neutral, though.
Feature films : (recent) Dr. Cornelius in Wolverine (starring Hugh Jackman, currently in production) and Magnus in Disgrace (starring John Malkovitch, now in post-production).
Television : (recent) Vincent in White Collar Blue (Channel 10) Maxwell McGuire in Chandon Pictures (Foxtel), Ted in Stupid, Stupid Man (Foxtel & ABC TV) and Ray Churchill in Out of the Blue (BBC/Southern Star - in production).
Voice : Recently I narrated, & voiced Mawson, for the feature-length dramatised documentary Mawson – Beyond Human Limits (BBC/ABC). I’ve narrated countless documentaries, often requiring the accurate pronunciation of about any language you care to mention. Some of the channels I’ve worked for : ABC, SBS, BBC, Discovery, National Geographic, NPR, Channel 4, ZDF, NHK.
Theatre : Lots of comedy (Doglogs, The Young Tycoons,) ; an abundance of Shakespeare (Claudius, Lear, Iago, Malvolio, Don John, Capulet, etc., etc.). Also Voss in Ritter, Dene, Voss ; The Man in The Unexpected Man ; various parts in Peter Brook’s The Man Who etc. etc.
Academic Credentials & Training: BA (Hons) Eng. Lit. (1st) ; BA (Hons) Drama (1st) ; MA (Distinction) M.Phil. (Distinction)
Other Relevant Experience : I’ve worked extensively as a senior lecturer, so I can express complex ideas clearly & succinctly: & I can keep auditors awake!
I speak reasonable German, a bit of French, and some Afrikaans. My pronunciation is regarded as good, & I’m told I’m good at most accents.
Oh, and I love to work !
